We all forage.

Some for mushrooms.

Others for firewood. Kindling.

Some for sustenance. For survival.

Many forage while racing.

For success. Power. Wealth.

Others scavenge for salve.

Ointment to wounds.

Bits of peace tucked alongside the pieces.

Stillness in a world of interminable motion.

We forage for meaning. For identity. For answers. For questions.

What are the treasures for which I pause?

The fragments I slip into my pockets?

Seconds. Minutes.

Moments.

Broken purple glass.

Words. New ones.

Or old beloved ones strung together in different ways.

Inside out or upside down. Ideas.

Dreams.

The sleepy ones.

And the brave ones that show themselves in the light.

The braver ones still, that come to be.

Tactile and weighty and real.
